Forget the flowers—give me a bouquet of pastries any day of the week. These are proof that you don’t need to be a pastry chef to whip up something that looks like it belongs in a bakery window! And, don’t let their good looks fool you—while mastering the technique might take a couple tries, once you get rolling, you’ll see that these beauties are actually super easy to make. With just a few simple ingredients and a spare hour, you’ll have a dessert that’s almost too cute to eat. But trust us, you’ll want to!

Ingredients

Toppings (optional): icing sugar

Preparation
  1. Core and thinly slice apple. Place in microwave-safe bowl; toss with 1 tsp drink mix. Microwave uncovered on high 1 min, or until soft and pliable; they should still hold their shape and bend without breaking.
  2. Roll out puff pastry to flatten. Slice into 6 equal strips, then slice each strip in half widthwise. You should have 12 strips total.
  3. Spread 12 tsp jam over each strip. Arrange the apple slices on each strip, overlapping each other slightly. The skin side of the apple slices should stick out over the edge of the strip. Sprinkle with remaining 2 tsp mix.
  4. Fold the bottom edge of the dough over the flat side of the apple slices.
  5. Starting from the bottom, carefully roll each dough strip to form the rose shape. Gently tuck any apple slices that slide out back in place. Press the edge to seal. Place on Sheet Pan lined with Sheet Pan Liner.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together egg and water. Brush pastries with egg wash. Refrigerate 10–15 min or until the dough is cool to the touch.
  7. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375° F.
  8. Bake 30–35 min, or until puffed and golden-brown. To serve, sprinkle with icing sugar, if desired.
Tips

For best results, bake on the lower rack of the oven.

Check the pastries at the 20-min mark. If the apples are starting to brown, loosely tent with foil for the remaining bake time.
